Happy Belated Rosh Hashanah

We celebrated the Jewish New Year last week with Josh's mom. I didn't attend services with Josh and his mom but I was present and accounted for when it was dinner time. Hey, we are each spiritual in our own ways and if I find my peace in a relish tray and home cooking, then so be it. ;) Edie's big ol standard poodle, Caeser, was so excited to see Joseph. Joseph was pretty unsettled by the big dog at first but soon warmed up to him.

Once he was comfortable around Caeser, he would stick his hand out and let Caeser lick it. Then Cesear became more bold and gave his face some licks throughout the night. It was really funny! Gross...but funny! Joseph was pretty intrigued by him as long as he was safe in his highchair!

And oh yes, the matzoh ball soup. The creme de la creme. Homemade chicken soup with a big ol perfect matzoh ball smack in the center! We were so excited to give Joseph his first matzoh ball. He loved it, of course. What isn't to love about homemade chicken soup!?

The next best part of Edie's dinners is the challah (pronounced halla). This is the most delish, moist, homemade bread ever! My fav is to drizzle honey on it - oooooooh child!

This picture is just funny! I am such a mean mommy. My poor baby wants me to get him and I snap a picture. He forgave me though and it's all good.

Joseph is named after Edie's dad. He was a great man and I am so blessed to have gotten to know him as well as I did. I truly loved him and miss him a lot. We will LOVE telling Joseph all the crazy things he used to say and do! He had big blue eyes, a great sense of humor and a huge smile...all of which little Joseph matches perfectly.

Joey and his Bubby snuggled up with a book before dessert...then Joseph grabbed her glass and spilled tea everywhere. Ha! I am sure big Joey spilled a glass or two in his day also. All in all, we had a great dinner and got the leftovers! I'd call it a success...and I am so at peace. ;)

OOh! Love the holiday dinners. You should do a post where you explain all the symbolism. I'd love to hear about the traditions!
