The Playground Continued!

Our new motto "Keep on truckin' with the concentration of a three year old!"

One of Michael's best pieces of advice from when he built Joseph's cousin's playground was this:

Read the instructions. Make sure you really understand them. Then read them again. Once you got it, read them one more time. And every time you step away from the manual, make sure the wind hasn't flipped it from the page you were on.

We agree!

The boys fastened the joist hangers with smiles and ease...

The instructions were referenced as per Michael's suggestion.

The joist boards installed! More smiles!

How do you use the word joist anyway? Is it a noun? Verb? Is is a joist board or are the boards joisted? Or is it a board secured to a joist fastener? I am totally lost on this one and probably won't ever really need to know the answer.

Now, we probably lost an hour of time altogether from what it took us to get Joseph off that ladder every time we needed it. Every time I turned around and went to step up...there he was, hammering away or brrrrrr'ing the drill. He loved every minute of working out there!

And then, miraculously it seemed, we had one wall and a floor! It was SPECTACULAR! Joseph and I had gone up for Jessie's birthday party the afternoon before and Josh worked straight through until dark. When we headed out the next morning Joseph camped out on the platform and helped from up there all day.

It's kinda like a new car's engine, you have to warm it up slowly until it's broken it. So Joseph got to warm up each new part of the fort as Daddy built the next!

Meanwhile I was supposed to be prepping the sandbox. It only took me two days and Josh to finish the job, what should have taken about an hour. That's ok. I have a little round bump to look after. ;)

I'll leave you with these shots of that sweet sweet concentration for this edition of the Playground Chronicles. To be continued!

Oh wait, that's not that sweet sweet concentration...that's a proud boy showing his mama a boogie. Gross.

Looks like fun, but glad we've got some time before we hit this phase. We're not good with projects! :-)
